Had a 1500lb superwinch for over 2 years now. Gets me out allright. But when pulling out a 650# quad, you get sucked in, nothing you can really do about that though.

Just chain yourself to a tree (via your hitch if you have one), or drive up to a tree and put the bumper up against it with the winch feed just off to the side, or chain one or more quads together and you will be able to use the winch up to its maximum capacity without being dragged into the mudhole yourself. The lighter Wolverine is not enough of an anchor on it's own to pull something heavier than itself out of the mud...

Friend of mine with a Wolverine bought a winch and after one day riding took it off.
The extra weight on the front killed the handling.

We've had a winch on two seperate wolverines now. No problems with the handling whatsoever. We had to use an external mount due to the lack of space up front. If we are pulling something heavy, its usually in the river so we just put the bike in reverse and bury the tires down a little in the sand. After that she'll pull any size bike out without a problem.
