it could be a few things
1.You need to adjust the end of the cable (where the clutch and parking brake is)
2.Cable is streched out
3.Check your parking brake im not to certain but i have been told that it gives you a hard time
Im not to familiar with the word sping but with you mean the metal end on each side of the cable there is are two of them make sure you install the other one below the clutch perch also make sure its properly installed. Hope this helps

the same thing happened to me this spring when i replaced the cable. there are 2 turn nuts at the end of the cable down by where it goes into the motor. those nuts have to be tightened i believe if its pulling in too loose. you just have to tweak with them until its working and shifting smoothly on both ends. hope i could help....

I am not sure I understand this scenario. Are you saying that when you try to engage the clutch, the lever doesn't return to resting position (tight against the perch)? If so, I would recommend lubing your cable. I have seen clutches roasted because a filthy cable wasn't allowing the plates to fully contact. If this was not what you were explaining, could you clarify the situation please?
