they wont ever put that powerful of an engine ina quad.first of all, thnk of the price.. noone would buy it and some of you are saying, they did it with snomobiles, and jetski's and such but dont forget, ATV's have different regulatory rules than sleds. a quad is not suuposed to leave a showroom floor that goes over 75. and if you think about it, its true.....

........The evidence is overwhelming. Five years ago, the over 500cc ATV class didn't exist. In 2005 it's expected to clear 20% of all ATV sold (almost 200,000 unit)
Despite their obvious popularity, we continue to hear over-simplified comments about safety issues as they pertain to large displacment ATV's. Serious ATV injury issues are ridiculously easy to identify, easy to understand and sadly, even easier to prevent.
No#1 Riders without helmets still top the list of those being injured across North America.
No#2 Flip-over from riding two-up on a one passenger ATV.
The biggest of the big are, without exception, safe, superb handling vehicles presenting no more danger to their operator than a 250cc model would present.
It all boild down to this: The operator is undoubtably the most potentially dangerous component on any ATV. If the operator uses common sence, makes responsible choices and obeys the laws and rules of safety clearly presented multiple times throughout the ATV purchase and ownership experience, we can look forward to 1000cc ATVs without fear.

1. people are right when they say yamaha wont put an r1 engine in a quad right away, they will probibly put the r6 in one first. even then, it would still haul a$$
2. if yamaha put this engine in a quad, it WOULD NOT be unstable at speed. dont you think they will put some time and money into the chassie to prevent this?
3. if you think about it, quads are only about 20 years old. where were bikes 20 years after they were made? did people think that bikes would be going 170 mph and have 1300 cc engines? NO. but look today, some 1000 years after the first bikes came out, they finaly got it right. now compare this to quads. in 20 years look at the technology that has gone into them. so whos to say, maybe 5, maybe 10, maybe 20 years down the road the manufacturers will put a decent engine intoo a quad.
ps if yamaha put an r6 in a quad, i would still sell my raptor and get it
