just put a stage 1 hotcam in my raptor and was wondering if it is normal for the motor to be noisier?? it seems the valve train is making the noise... thanks

I have a stage one on a stock bore engine. The valves will be a little noisier, but not too much. Check your decompression pin and the valve lashes.

Valves need to be set according to hc specs. .2 and .25 I think. Around 8 and 11 thousandths but dont take my word for it.

The decomp pin is in the body of the cam. If you installed the cam, you should have put one in. Its on a little spring and is used to release compression while starting the bike. Make sure it is not stuck in or out, most importantly out. HC is notorious for problems with the decomp pin. If you have to, you can use the stocker or take it out all together.

Any cam with higher lift and, longer durations (which performance cams have) is going to make the Valvetrain more noisy!

Did you keep stock compression ? And how big power gain you feel ? I'm thinking about stage 1 for my raptor, but somewhere I read that without higher compression piston, gain is not so great.

I'd say you'd feel more from porting in addition to the cam than you would from the higher comp piston. But all 3 is the way to go!
