And by the way, once you change anything on a quad, it's no longer stock now is it.

something called aerodynamics...something the raptor doesnt quite have, but a car and a motorbike have over the raptor...surprised u didnt realize the amnt of engine power to overcome the air resistance from the front fenders alone...surprised u didnt realize this...O_o

New argument, all right!
Cut em off. And a 750 vulcan is far from aerodynamic, and it's 85lbs heavier than the rappy. On a bug, the windshield is flat and almost perpendicular with the ground, lots of wind resistance. I can see a quad having wind resistance, but not 50mph worth. According to ImBack, a rappy would have to have 106hp to do over a hundred. A yammy r7 has just that, 106hp. If you took an r7 engine and put it in a rappy with the same gearing as on the r7 and same size rear tire, you think it could only go just over 100mph? You really think a quad has over 60mph worth of wind resistance?

As for your VW bus hitting 90mph, I talked to a few peeps yesterday who confirmed to me that these things would barely hit 70mph, you were just talking out of your @ss once again...

So now you only need 14hp overstock to hit 100. You can get that from a CT pipe!
Don't know what stoners you were talking to, but a bug with a 1600dp, i.e. '71 and later, would hit 90mph. The year has a lot to do with it when it comes to bugs. My first speeding ticket I ever got was in my bug. 76mph in a 55 zone. I wish they couldn't do 70, then I wouldn't have gotten that ticket.
And if you're so destined to prove me wrong, why don't you find out "exact" numbers then, boy.

I still have to agree with CraZ400. For one he said bug not bus and two I have a Johne Deere Amt622 5 wheeler that weighs 900lbs with a 9 hp engine and it does 25 mph and I have a Yamaha Grizzly 125 that weighs 320 lbs and with me (210lbs) it still was hitting 37 mph according to my neighbors speedometer. I believe a stock Rappy has the power alright, How long it would take to get to 100mph would be the only question I have. Lets talk something with no power like a moped that can still do 35mph even though it takes awhile. It's in the gears !! I am not saying that there isn't a limit , But I don't think 100mph is a stretch provided there is enough straight road to give it the time it needs. My old chev pickup had between 375 and 400 h.p. and it would bury the speedometer past 100mph in less than 1/4 of a mile and that was about 4,000 lbs and on top end I ran a straight stretch of road 2 car lengths ahead of a Trans Am with his speedometer buried at 130mph. So lets see 400/4,000 = .1 h.p. per pound, A stock Rappy I hear has 36 h.p. and according to yamaha weigh 400lbs. 36/400 = .09 h.p. per pound. I don't think it would be unreasonable to think a Rappy could hit 100mph with the right gears. Everyone is making some valid points and to a degree wind and weight make a difference, But more in acceleration than top speed unless you are talking large amounts of wind or weight and in this case I don't believe you are. Just my 2 cents, I am no engineer, I'm not a rocket scientist, I don't know diddly about quads, But I am no dummy either.

You are right he said bug, my old man had one up until 8 years ago and thing thing took like forever to hit 80mph...Im done arguing wiht you guys, enjoy your 100mph stock Rappys!!!
Most people here know better.

IMBACK, I am not arguing with anyone I just stated my opinion. I never said that the rappy would function well if geared to do 100mph, Hell it may need a push to get going from a dead stop for all I know. I was just saying that is not and unreasonable goal even though it would be no fun to ride because it isn't going to have much accelaration. I don't really care if it will or won't anyway because I wouldn't want to go that fast. Just because people have different opinions doesn't mean they are arguing and nobody knows for sure anyway without actually trying it so lets drop it. People can voice their opinions and agree to disagree without arguing, But when people start calling others idiots and what not it gets downright childish.

Imback, One more point I would like to make is that I said I doint know diddly about quads so here is a question for you. Did you use every gear combination available or possible ?? Was the reason because the Raptor wouldn't reach readline ?? My guess is they only make so many different combinations and that is why I ask. I never said that you could walk into a dealer and buy the proper sprockets or even if they make them, But I still stand by my opinion that with the proper amount of distance it is possible. And yes all conditions must be favorable because I agree that there is a point where wind resistance comes more into play. The higher the gears the more the wind is going to effect it, But even then unless it is a strong headwind I think it is possible. They key will be a very long straight flat run, It may take 1 mile it may take 5 who knows. Hell I could be wrong because I have never tried it, I am only speculating from My personal experience with other things. Here are a couple things to think on. Go-karts with 5 h.p. engines doing 60mph, Go-karts with chain saw engines doing 70-80 mph and a personal experience of mine was a go-kart with a 70's vintage 440 snomobile engine clocked at 120+ mph with radar at a local air strip back in the 80's. Possible to hit 100mph with a Stock Raptor ?? I still say yes. Practical ? No way !! It would be no fun to ride because it would be a total sled. I am not trying to be smart, This post just got my curiosity going.
