i had an old suzuki and i sunk it a lot, on the ride home i could only top out at lik 10 mph. all it was is there is just much water in the transmisson oil. i drained it, then ran it for a minute, then drained it, and repeated that until nothing came out, then u add the amount of oil it takes and i was good again. that might be whats wrong with urs. if requires more than one draining usually

hey sledge48593 you have a more serious problem than you think..the two black tubes that lead from the transmission aare clogged with mud and not allowing the belt to expand properly...I experienced the same thing on my 02grizz..the mud got in thru the front end, there is a hole for air to get in right under the front racks and if mud gets in there it will clog the airways to keep it cool.same for the rear if the if you dont find it in the front..the rear hose is the release the air.if its not breathing right the belt cant stretch and you cant get any speed..it cost almost 350bucks at the dealer...its something you do yourself, but i would let them go head do it right...null

yep, your transmission could be packed with mud or you could have tripped out that thing that limits the speed when the differential is locked. Had a friend have that problem. Something in the servo screwed up and it would only go 22 regardless of high or low range or even 2wd.

If there was water/ mud behind crankcase cover # 3 (the first cover that houses the primary and secondary sheaves), then there is most likely trapped water/ mud behind crankcase cover # 2
(the second cover behind the pri & sec sheaves). The only way to remove trapped water behind CC-cover # 2 is to remove it and wipe the water out. It might be worth while to remove this second cover to check because it houses the clutch housing and carrier assembly. Also, If you haven't cleaned and repacked the primary sheave with "Grizzly Grease" and your secondary sheave with Bel-Ray assembly lube you may be on your way to more costly repairs. A service manual CD will show you how to do the work and it will cost less than $20 for the grease and lube. The job should take less than 2 hours to complete.

I did the same thing except with clean water, no mud. I was able to pull the drain plug and drain it out and a few minutes to let the belt dry and I was on my way again. I was crossing a river and hit a hole sinking the quad over the seat and the only thing sticking out was the handlebars. I accelerated a tad and the front end lifted up doing a wheelie under water and that raised the tank a bit out of the water so I didn't drown the engine also. I was able to go in alot deeper of water that way riding my wheelie lol
The reason I responded though was to make sure you knew you could hold in the grey override button and get full lockup past 20 mph. If you don't hold the button the the full lock up will automatically go to the limited slip 4 wheel once you get past 20 mph.
