i dunno, why doesnt someone put an xr 650 motor in a warrior, then only talk about their 650 warrior. and then they should put people down saying that the only way they will get power is if they put a 650 motor in their quad. that would be cool.............................................. .......................

ok, someone is being a dink...

Anyway...

500 twin, I dont believe I'm familiar with that engine but I will give you my experiences.

My friend built a cbr600 quad. He basically kept the engine in the bike and created a front and rear end around it, mostly from blaster and other yamaha parts. It has some wicked top end and has no problem beating many of the quads around here.

That said, it lacks the speed in 300' that is necessary to take down the drag banshees, sled engined quads, and the 727 raptor I occasionally see around. No one in my neck of the woods has a ds worth shaking a stick at, so I wont compare those.

It's definately an idea, but I dont really know the specs of that engine. I guess the fact that the cbr is an inline four and the ninja is a v twin would skew the results.

ok I dont think I added anything useful or pertinent to this thread, but at least i tried

Dirtwheels had one a few years back in a Mojave and they said it ran well with lots of torque but the 500 Ninja only has around 50 hp stock so trying to go head on with the big boys probably isn't going to happen.

If the 500 ninja motor only puts out 50hp, I don't think it would be worth the work. But since the ninja 250 puts out 40hp stock, It leads me to believe that the 500 would put out more than 50. I was thinking in the mid 60's area anyway. Also the ninja is an inline twin. Inline twins are much easier to work into a quad frame than a v twin IMO though I have never done a motorcycle engine quad frame swap. Screw the 500 thumper though and go with an rz500. Four cylinders of two stroke screaming power. 90 hp stock in a mild state of tune. Good luck routing all 4 expansion chambers though. oops I got a tad of topic here. There are other options though including a tz250 (70hp stock out of a tiny two stroke twin), tz750 (inline four cylinder two stroke over 100hp stock), or maybe even some sort of sled/pwc motor. There are a ton of options.

TZ250 has nothing till the rpms pass into the stratosphere and good luck finding any of the uber rare yamha motors. There is always the ol H3 though, I been thinkin bout doin one . Seing as he lives in houston, he lives in the same city as one of the best two stroke pipe fabricators. I had to drive to houston to have mine done.

Would be very cool if you got it to work properly....I am a Kawasaki Streetbike rider myself but wy a 500? why not get th 600 instead.......and when my ZRX1200R starts to go i WILL find some way to put the engine in a quad frame.
