i rode my uncles dirtbike recently and to me it was so much funner than quads (not trying to start an uproar, its my opinion and im entitled to have it).

so the money i was saving for a quad is goin to a dirtbike and ill hopefully have it around december


is there anyone around here who knows a good amount about bikes and answer my questions or point me to a good dirt bike forum

i dunno bout dirtbike forums, sorry. but i see youre getting an 05? you crazy?? i think you should just buy like a '00 cause you can get them around 2100 which is alot cheaper and theyre still great bikes. JMO

im still new to dirtbikes ive only riden a XR100, TTR125 and a DR350 so i think a rm 250 might be a bit to much for me and im only 15 6' 140lbs. so i really dont want to over do it

Go with a 2stroke 250cc or a 4stroke 450cc...

 

honestly i learned on 250s, you are better to get a good size bike then a small one, being you will out grow it, 125s power bands hit harder, but arent as good imho. my 250 can putt in the woods, or win races on the track.

 

wouldnt it be harder to learn on a 250, ive also never ridden a 2 stroke

 

IMO you made a good decision. I am doing the same thing as soon as someone decides to buy my Banshee. I am 15 too and I am going straight to a crf450(although I've been riding an rm250 all summer). If I were you, I would look for a yz250f, the newest you can get in your price range. They have enough power you should never get bored with it, but you can learn how to ride on it too. Dirt Rider.net is a good all around forum and Thumper Talk is a good four stroke forum. Rem- Are YOU crazy??? The 05 aluminum framed yz's have me drooling.....
