differential oil coming through the vent hose?
I had the same problem with my '98 Wolverine. I noticed it did it more during cold weather when I rode it fast. The gear oil is thicker when its cold. It didn't cause any problems coming out of the vent hoses, but that stuff sure does stink. Just check the fluid level once in a while, everything should be OK.

Differential fluid level should be just a little under the threads of the fill plug hole. If you actually fill it to the bottom of the threads as Yamaha states, you end up with the topic of this thread. I've let mine "burp" until it's happy, then checked it and try to never fill it above that "memorized" level. No problems since.
