Default Question for the snowmobilers.

my nieghbor asked me to fix her snowmobile, it is an older yamaha enticer twin 300 special, i dunno the year but she said it runs but just needs like to be cleaned out, so im gonna clean the carb and if that doesnt work i dunno what else to do, what else do you think i should do?

Spark plugs....filters.......oil(might be good to change too).........

clean air box out also along with plugs fresh gas and carb.

also take some emery cloth and litely scuff the clutches where the belt rides .make sure the track rotates freely . make sure no critters have made a home in the exhaust or air box. check ski alignment toe in about an eighth to a quarter. lube the zerks and pivot points. and make sure the belt is in good shape no burns or narrow spots. if you get all of this you are golden

it started with some ether but then stopped, i dont think shes getting gas.

Be sure to siphon the old gas out of the tank. It won't do any good to clean the carb if you suck that old crap right back in. Also spray a little starting fluid around the crank seals when you get it started up and see if there's a change in idle speed. If there is, they're bad. If it's been sitting a long time then they could be dried out. That would cause it to idle fine but act like it's running out of gas when you take off. The fuel lines may very well be hard and cracked also. You're messing with a 20+ year old sled, it may have many problems.

i sugest putting in an in line fuel filter between the tank and the carb so you dont always have to be cleaning out your carb it works graetr especially for the older bikes that no dout have crap in them. just a sugestion though
