raptor 350 overheating

mine went through a faze about 4 rides after i bought it it got real hot feeling and lost a lil power but never cut out or lose a whole lot of power sounds like yours has a little problem i would carry it back or do as velociraptor350 said ride that w-h-o-r-e [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/img] and slap it on the azz a few time to clear her out [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

Default raptor 350 overheating

How do you know its overheating? Any tell tell signs? Overheating can be cause by running the bike lean so check your plugs

So D3athShad0w you said you can put an oil cooler on the Raptor 350?? How do you do it and were do you get one??

2 ways to do it, you can tap into the case of the motor or you buy the yamaha big bear oil filter cover. Next you need some lines and then a cheap tranny/oil cooler from a parts store.

is it worth doing and do they make one to fit right on or do u have to rig it like you said

but oil coolers affect mostly the bottom half engine.. Remember oil doesn't cool (or not to a great extent) the engine it lubes it.
Air scoops might work

Im planning on doing it, but you have to rig it. Its really nothing more then insurance, probably becomes alot more useful when you start getting into big bores and such.

Actually in regards to the oil cooler for air cooled motors it does make a huge dif... Id say a drop of 30 - 50 degrees in oil temperature is plenty enough to buy one [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]! But yes buy the 95' Big Bear Oil element parts and go to AutoZone and get a Hayden Part #401 Tranny Oil Cooler (29$).
After you start performance modding your machine this is a serious mod to consider. Yes your not returing the oil back to the top end directly but you are lowering the over all oil temperature and that does help lots...
