grizz in deep snow, should I be worried
Hey, I just read the post that I pasted at the bottom of this message. I was out riding in the deep snow yesterday and when I was done just parked in my garage...no heat in the garage. I'm new to atv riding so help me out here. Should I be worried...should i have done some maintanance before putting it away...is there something I should do tonight so that it'll be ready for a weekend of riding at the end of the week.

Just a little tip: I suggest parking the Brute Farce for the winter months, perhaps in warm storage. If snow gets on anything or anywhere, your looking at frozen cables, water in fluids, locked up steering, brakes locked, wheel bearing problems, wont start, wont idle, etc, etc.
I've also heard that the airbox will fill with snow without much provocation.
Bottom line: Buy a snowmobile for the snow, this quad is in absolutely no shape to handle it. Dont' beleive me? Go ahead, drive through some foot-tall stuff and then check the quad in the morning..... it will be in rough shape.

Well from my exploits I would say you are OK. The only time I have ever Iced my AC was when I broke into some mud under the snow and decided I wanted to spray it off. I did not like the mud/ice/snow slurry packed into the inside of the wheels. I sprayed it at a car wash and expected a sheet of ice. I, however, also knew I was going to fire up the heater in the garage to melt it. I was jsut carefull as I realized that I just froze up the plastics which can make that stuff a little more prone to crack. Other than that, no problems. If it is cold enough to freeze the thing solid, well, I am staying inside.

You certainly should be a little worried. Snow cakes around the front and rear calipers and freezes making the brakes almost inoperable for one thing. Another thing that happens is the snow will get into your winch and freeze making it impossible to pull the cable out or even turn the know to freespool. And probably the worst that happens is it cakes up around your CV boots and freezes which will tear a boot REAL quickly. Also something to keep an eye on when in the deep snow it will have a tendancy to fly up over the front of the machine and block the airflow through the radiator. On Sunday I was out for a ride and I had to clear out the snow from between the bumper and grill because my temperature started to rise on me.
Every time after I ride in the deep snow I clean out all the snow(as best I can) from around the CV's both front and back when I put it away or on the trailer. Last year I bought a kerosene salamander (torpedo) heater and now I heat the garage after I park the machine to melt most of the snow off.

SLUGGO I have a 04 griz when I ride deep , I just put it in a garage, mines not heated so I put the salamander to it for a couple of hours and its fine ,melts all the snow and ice off the calipers and around the boots ,also pull the plastic plug at the bottom of the clutch cover and the clear resevior on the intake duct. Thats what I do.

hey I leave my BF outside ALL THE TIME as in the shop is full. but any way I havent had a problem at all this last weekend did some ice fishing with it and we got to playin in the deep stuff no problem but I would say that any atv with cv joints should be cleaned off it sure bets splittin the boots like on our kodiak but live and learn.
