Default Tires for my 2005 Kodiak 450......

I just accidently posted on another tread so I apologize for the replay. My question is this: I too have the '05 Kodiak that came with stock 25x10x12 tires. Having read all the posts out there, I mail ordered some 26x12x12 Bearclaws. My tire man said it would be no problem installing the 26x9x12 tires on the front rims, but after tring to mount the rear tires, said that he would probably end up ruining the side wall if he tried any harder to mount the 2" wider rear tire on my stock rims.

Has anyone else had this any similar problems???

I just noticed you guys are refering to the outlaw mst as a radial. I find no information wether these new tires are radial or bias ply and they won't even be around until mid-summer. If the weights quoted here are correct the ACT / Wetland is a much lighter tire. Even if you don't notice it on the trails IMO all other things being equal a 450 will have more power to pull you out of mud when spinning a lighter tire. I could be wrong. There were 2 previous outlaws, the originals were bias plys and the outlaw radials weren't around very long. If somebody has more information please share!

If you go to highlifter.com, in there forum section, you can read up on the tires. For weight of the tire, one of the employees qouted 31.2 pounds for a 26x12x12 i believe.... which puts it .8 pounds lighter than the 589s. and the qouted that it is going to be lighter than the competitors tires for the same class, and they qoute them radials... all i know... the 25",26" tires are supposed to be out late January/middle Feb. and then Summer time for other sizes...

I would say you either need to buy spacers or new rear wheels or get different tires. If those are the tires you want. I would just go with some wheels. I bought Douglas Rokstars, They are some of the lightest and strongest wheels out there. They are less expensive than others. They look really nice but not quite as nice as ITP or Maxxis. If you want to increase offset I would rather put my money into wheels than spacers. The 26 inch tires I bought are the same width as stock.

Thanks for the info. Misery. Your Handle reminds me of the Stephen King movie. I'll never forget the sledgehammer scene. I hope things work out much better for this outlaw tire than the last Ill fated radial. People were upset when that one never really came into full production. I am so psyched up about the tires I bought I feel like I work for Carlisle / ITP! LOL! Read this review.

thanks

Where is a link to the tires you purchased?

Is there any Sites that do Tire comparissons? Like Same machine, Same Rims, different rubber, then drive though the same conditions exactly? then post results, and not there opinions?

anybody?

If you can test drive a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 500 or higher or a 2005 Bombardier Outlander XT model they both come with this tire. I have a picture but don't know how put it in my reply.

Well I just came back from the Highlifter forum and found nothing there to indicate that the Outlaw MST is a radial tire. It is in fact an improved version of a thai made tire called the Swamp Witch by deestone tire. It would be interesting to see how they compare to bridgestone mudhook xxtremes. I read on a forum somewhere that the quality of the Swamp Witch isn't up to par with other manufacturers but who knows.

The MST is not a radial. I talked to one of the salesmen on Friday. He said they had discontinued the Outlaw Radial due to very poor quality control from the factory. They were getting the MST in about 30 days and it's not a radial. He said it "acts like a radial" due to the footprint...
