Best selling quad of 2004
#21
I agree with the list above. Polaris may not sell the best quality quad but they sell a lot of them and they probably have the most dealers in the US. Polaris has been #2 for years and I would not be surprised if they grab #1 from Honda as their product line basically sucks. Drum brakes, single range trannys, took 5 years before offering reverse on the 400EX, the 450R isn't as good as the YFZ450. Anyway, Honda makes a dependable product but they no longer offer the features people want. The value simply isn't there. You can only sell on name alone for so long...as for Polaris, I have no idea how in the he!! they sell so many quads. I know they have improved, but the '95 Scrambler my brother had the misfortune of owning was the biggest POS I have ever seen or ridden. I guess lots of farmers and such buy their quads because there is always a local dealership nearby and they never ride them hard enough to experience failures.

I agree with you on most of that rock, one other thing I have noticed with the guys that ride withus that have Polaris's is they get kinda "hooked"....what I mean is when they go and try and trade for a Yamaha,Kaw etc they cannot get NOTHING for their trade....used they are worthless....BUT when they go to a Polaris dealer they seem to put more into them. Believe it or not we had a guy trade a 2000 Magnum 500 for a SP 700 (non efi) for only $1500.00 diff.Even if he did not want another Polaris that was a deal that was hard to pass up.On a Grizz they wanted like $3800.diff.

I think alot of folks buy them because they are American made. I would support them, but the only Polaris I halfway like is the Predator. They get some weight off that big boy it would be a very desireable ride. If you are into tank-like utes, I guess Polaris would be very appealing.

Heard from a very reliable source that the current number one selling atv is the Yamaha lineup which just recently dethroned Honda.
As a side note, a dealer who carries Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha told us that the Grizzly outsells the Rincon by 5 to 1. The Brute Force and King Quad are too new for him to compare fairly.
