I run 22" on the front and back. I recommend it on the trail and rocks. You get a better ride, more top speed and ground clearance. I am running RAZR2 and they are tuff and light weight and hook up like a dream.
You will want to add wheel spacers to the rear to widen the axle. I noticed added tippyness going to taller tires. Wider back will take care of it.

if you want more speed throw a smaller sprocket on the back.. the bigger the tires the hard your clutch works. my friend had 22 inch pure sport realtors and they are pretty heavy.. bike was 3 months old and he blew the clutch out..

No, you dont put a smaller sprocket on the back, you put a bigger one on the back or a 12 tooth on the front.

You arent looking for more speed, the taller tires give you that already. To get the gear ratio back to what it was before the tires you need to get a bigger rear or smaller front. Besides, you would want more low end grunt to get the tires rolling.
Its no wonder your buddy fried his clutch if he went to a lower gear ratio AND got bigger tires without the motor to turn them at that gearing.
