How to fix gear shifter play??
i had that problem on my yz125, if the shifter bolt doesnt tighten any more to fix it then its most likely the shaft. the splines on the shaft get worn down over time and let the shifter move around. you have to split the cases to put in a new shaft so its no easy job and will cost over 200$ to have it done for you.

you could try to do what i did though, and see if it works.
i bought a new aluminum shifter for like 50$ and heated it up with a torch so it was more bendable, i put threadlocker on the bolt and tightened it as much as i could while my freind was squeezing the shifter around the shaft with channel locks. just make sure u dont strip the bolt when ur tightening it becuase aluminum strips very easy especialy when its hot.

A couple thing to consider. First, on most dirtbikes you don't have to split the engine cases to replace the shifter shaft. On the warrior/wolvy, you have a linkage and a pivot which works the shifter shaft. It's usually play in the linkage which makes your shifter sloppy. I was told you have to buy the whole assembly (no individual parts available). On my old machine, I drilled out the ball connectors and used 3/8"ready rod" and threaded carb linkages from the local auto parts store. It lasted for a year and then I don't know because I sold the machine.

ok i just went and looked at it. Its def not the shaft going into the crank area. It looks like I can adjust the play on the shifter because there is a rod that had threads and bolts on it. The play is mostly where the foot peg is so i think if I adjust the one piece it should be solved but we'll see
