Default Raptor vs yfz450

i am aware of the raptors tendency to make to front end go skyward ... trust me .... but i have outrun 450's with the money i already have in my atv... i know that if i get much more hp i am going to HAVE to work on the suspension/ swing arm.... to answer you question i do alot of woods riding but i have found a new love for the strip... i can get more hp out of the 660 than i can the 450 money's really no object but you keep tellin me that i should have gotten a 450 and with the mods i have i outrun a 450 at the same price of one new.... sure they come better stock for mx but i dont race mx i race track and woods and the 660 shines there

True, the Raptor is better for the woods...more comfortable, & reverse is handy in the woods too.

Thats the point, the raptor is already a fast bike with 9.2:1 compression and a very mild cam. You can get a raptor to go faster than you can a yfz, drag machine or whatever. The yfz has the handling and weight edge, I dont think anyone will argue with that.

A piped raptor with 11:1 piston and stage 1 cam should beat stock and piped yfz's and run awfully close to if not beat cam modded ones. I know my machine did when it was in that state of tune.

My cousin has a 2004 limited edition raptor with a K&N intake, and i got a stock 2004 limited edition yfz and we did around an 1/8 of a mile drag race and he was eating gravel the whole time.

Why are you all arguing about this back and forth about mods and stuff? You've all clearly missed the most important aspect of which bike will win. That would be rider skill. Doesn't matter how fast or how hopped up your bike is, if you can't ride it then you're going to lose, period. Same goes for racing cars (unless u have an automatic, then you don't count lol), if you can't drive a manual worth a crap, you'll lose even if you're in a freakin lamborghini. Also, comparing the YFZ to a Raptor is pretty pointless since they OBVIOUSLY have different setups. YFZ = MX (RACE!!!) Bike, Raptor = Trail (Cruise) Bike with the potential of being a race bike. I don't have either right now, but i'm buying an '05 Raptor in a few weeks. One of my buddy's friends has an '05 YFZ with a full Trinity Racing exhaust on it, i can't remember if he has an intake/filter or not. But, my friend is also thinking about getting a yfz450 as well. If he does, we will most definately race each other to put this to an end. But it doesn't matter what "our" outcome is, yours will be different. I'm 6'2", I weigh about 155lbs, my friend is about 5'11" or so, and he weighs over 300lbs (twice my weigh roughly). That gives me an advantage race wise. But if i can't ride worth crap, am i going to win? Think about the obvious factors, not who has more hp than the other, cuz when it comes down to it, it might not make a difference.
