2003 Wolverine problems???
#1
My buddy has a 2003 Wolverine he just got used. Well we unloaded off the truck today and start it up and it starts up fine but whenever you give it gas it just starts backfiring ans sputtering. But if you just start driving it around it will go away and then sometimes it will come back when you lay off the gas it will come back and start sputtering and backfiring but then again sometimes it won't. I think it is also shooting gas into the air filter but am not sure. I think there is also gas in the oil. I was thinking it is either water in the tank or the float needle is stuck becasue it has been sitting for awhile but am not sure so tommorrow I am gonna drain the gas and get some more and put heat in it and if that doesn't help I guess get the carb rebuilt but I was wondering if thier was anything else I can try before getting the carb rebuilt?

Drop the float bowl on the carb, it is not unusual for there to be a big piece of dirt in there. An inline fuel filter will combat this problem.
If that does not do it, try wiggling the little switch on the emergency brake lever. Sometimes they stick, leaving the parking brake rev limiter on, causing an acceleration misfire.

I just got my Wolverine last week. Yesterday I adjusted the parking brake so it would hold. I thought it was sputtering because I forgot to turn the fuel valve, but I guess that wasn't it. Good to find the truth!!!!!
