Default help!! problem with mud lites

I just installed new mud lites on ITP rims and I did not realize that the front tread is different from the rear. I put 26-9-12s on the front and 26-10-12s on the rear the front tires lugs are longer than the rear and looks a little higher. this makes the front tires look taller. There is no different writing on the tires. the front and the rear are the same it does not have anything different like X/L, A/T printed anywhere on the tires. will it hurt to run it like this

HELP

Coacho, you need to check with who sold you the tires. The mud lites come in two different lug sizes. I got 26-10-12 front and 26-12-12 rear. They are all the deep lug XL model and match perfectly. You can look at www.itptires.com/mudlite.html and see the difference in the two. Good luck.

Default help!! problem with mud lites

Thanks. I called friday to their Tech support and he told me that the 26-9-12 were like that for steering reason. They look good but the lugs are just as beep but longer. hard to explain. but he said they were right. let me as you about power. I lost a lot of power with these tires, did you loss power and what did you do to fix it. I really like the tires. they look and feel great but lost low end power harder to rev up and seens now I have to hold full throttle on hills and I got hung up for the 1st time. plus at times they hit my front fender flairs. what do you have your front shocks set on

Thanks

May be you should try 25" XL tires. This way you wont have the big tire loss, because they are stock size, even though you will still have the deep lugs.

Default help!! problem with mud lites

Not sure what bike you have but I just got an 05' 450 Kodiak and put ML 26"s on. With the PDI or factory preset of 2 they rub on the front over fenders in sharp drop situations or when all the weight is beared on the front in a bumpy/faster situation. I bumped to 3 it helped but seeing I ain't a small boy they still made a little noise, I plan to try 4 and figure that should eliminate the rub in most cases. If I don't like the ride or handling I will consider cutting of the drop down front portion off the overfenders since this is where it is making contact in my case.

I haven't noticed a real power loss, it seems to climb fine and has turned the tires in some pretty tough mud. You can have the clutchs changed to compensate some for the larger tire/tread o try swapping to the 25"s Xl instead. Being I am new to the bike/tires someone more experienced is probably a better source of particulars though.

I traded my stock tires in when I picked it up new, so I can't talk about power loss. I knew it would be some, but didn't really care. I am not a top speed freak, so that doesn't matter. I just want to be able to scratch up long steep hills, climb over rocks and get through the occasional mud hole. I have not had any problems with them rubbing. I like them and they suit my needs fine. My shock settings are stock #2 position.
