problems with edelbrock
#1
I have install a edelbrock carb on my raptor.
It runs very very great in all gears, but in the 5th gear in top of the end, my raptor don´t accelerate.I mean the engine is splottering.
What kind of problem is that? Is my adjustment to rich or to lean? What shell I try?
Weeks ago boxhead want to help me out, but it doesn´t work.
The engine sputters, when I drive upward gradient and the gas does not assume for many seconds. When I drive downhill it works good.
I turn the screw for pumpshot in all directions from lean until rich. The spark is "deer-brown".
Please help me out!

Another thing to do to try and narrow it down, is a plug chop. Start from first gear, and keep it full throttle until 3rd gear runs out, when it does hit the kill switch with it floored. After it dies coast to a stop in your garage or whatever, then check the plug. It is is lighter than when you orignally checked, then it is your main.

First off, you wont have top end as it sits. You have to remove the needle adjuster, then try 5th wide open. If that doesnt work, then you are in the same boat I was in with my friend's bike.

Did you change the needle that came with the carb? You are running a 727, the needle that comes installed in the carb is for a bone stock 660 with maybe a pipe. You need to go to either the smaller or bigger needle (I think smaller) that came in the little zip bag with the dial.
Call Edlebrock and they will connect you with one of the engineers to help you determine which needle.
