Default 95 Warrior Carb Question

Ok I bought my warrior recently and I went riding sunday and we were running hard down the interstate and I noticed in each gear, I get from low to mid range and it runs fine, but when I get into the high end of a gear, it starts cutting out and backfiring.... any ideas? One guy I rode with said it might need rejetted and thinks it may not have been rejetted for the pipe but another guy says he thinks one of the jets is clogged and that the carb probably needs cleaned. Any Ideas?

Default 95 Warrior Carb Question

Usually missing on the top end is a sign of running rich, best thing to do is run a plug chop, and check the color after a good hard run, then see if you are rich or lean. If the midrange is fine, you may just need to raise the needle a notch to get the fuel right on the top end. Cleaning the carb is never a bad idea, either, so check the plug first, and if you have to take the carb off, be sure to spray out all the passages and blow them out while it is apart. Also, by high end of each gear, are you revving the k-rap out of it before shifting? Warriors will tend to float the valves if revved too high and held there , making the motor run rough and miss.

How do I run a plug chop?

Also It starts backfiring and miss firing after about 1/2 throttle... I checked the plug after I ran it after I first got it, I checked it after about 6 hours of riding and the plug looked like it was burning fine.

A plug chop, or plug test, is done by warming the motor up with the old plug, then installing a new plug.Run down a straight road running to third gear as fast as possible, then pull in the clutch and kill the motor, coasting to a stop.Pull the plug and check the color, adjust jetting to get the light tan color, it may take a couple of plugs to check it out, but they are cheap. If you do have a pipe, it may be lean on top, if your color seems ok now, go up a size on the main and see if that lets you rev more on top, or try moving the needle to get the top end dialed in. A quick carb clean might not hurt, a tiny bit of dirt can make all the difference.

Default 95 Warrior Carb Question

well sh1+... I started looking at the carb after I started it up and it was running ok, I twisted the carb a little to see if gas would pour out and it started cutting out... I was like "What the hell...." and i went over to the other side and the piece connecting the carb to the intake was cut.... bout a 2 inch long gash in the side of it.... I pushed on it with a flat tip screwdriver and spread it a little bit and it cut out and died... so Im hoping thats most of my problem... that its loosing air there and its causing it to lose power... Hopefully Im right... thanks for everything guys.

The gas problem is either a bit of crud holding the needle and seat open and leaking by, or just a worn out needle and seat for the float is needed, my 95 Wolverine leaked bad until I replaced them, then no problem.
