I am not in total disagreement here, I still believe in the rebel cause. If he says there are no houses around, I believe him. And the fines they are slapping for riding a quad (auctioning it AWAY!!!!!) why WOULD anyone stop for a patrol. It costs more to get caught quading than a hit and run. He ain't selling crack to little kids here, he's riding in the ditch for God's sake!

Anyway, I don't condone riding on illegal land, I'll do the politically correct thing here to keep the flamers down.

Fact of the matter is: You ran. That's wrong. If you weren't doing anything illegal you'd have had no reason to run.

If there's nowhere to ride where you live, why do you have a quad? Seems kinda pointless to have something you can't use legally.

And yes your grammar matters if you want people to take notice of what you say and take you seriously. I don't think they were picking on your spelling so much (lots of people make spelling mistakes) as your complete lack of punctuation. If you talk the way you type, you've got some serious lung capacity. Perhaps a career in skin diving might be good??

Anyway, the point of it all is the laws are in place. Whether or not you agree with them is irrelevant. If you feel very strongly about it, raise a petition to try and change the laws. Not easy to do, but sometimes you gotta take a stand for what you believe in.

Just for the sake of arguement. Let's say that all of what this kid stated is true. If they are spending tax $$$ to catch ATVers, the expendature had to be approved on some local level. Why don't you try and talk to some town board members. Maybe you could make a case for using the funds to support an ATV park locally?
In regards to running from the cops, the fines in your area seem a bit outrageous. I have ridden in areas that I was not sure about being legal and you would be suprised. A little consideration goes a long way. If I see DEC or a cop, I don't run. I keep my bike registered and insured. If you are caught riding in an area you should not be, with a registered and insured bike, they can only sight you for trespassing. If you present yourself like an adult, you will be treated as such.

I will go one step further, and tell you that trying to outrun or running road blocks is usually
a felony. Each time someone runs another road block, another felony. Pretty bad for the
record when things are tough enough, with employment the way it is..

 

If they're going through the hassle and money to get aerial patrol then it ain't just one person and it's a bigger deal then we will ever know. There's obviously a problem with people obeying the law there with the fines, penalties and patrol being instituted. There has got to be away for you to get there legally you just need to find it.
