I have one, and this past week-end we took it to Paddy's Bluff in Kentucky. This is my wifes 4-wheeler, and she never complained once about it. She actually likes it better over my old 98 Wolverine that I used to have.

I do not think it sucks, I think it looks like a very good machine. I would have gotten one if it had more power and suspension. I have not ridden one but feel I am sound in those remarks since I have ridden a Kodiak 450 at length and it has basically the same motor, the pre-IRS Kodiak frame, and only slightly changed suspension. It would be a great quad for you or anyone looking to do the same type of riding.

I think people's biggest gripe is that it looks like a Raptor 80 (or 90 or whatever it is).

You will like it, for the size of the machine it has plenty of power, it has a nice sporty look to it, and it is awesome on the trails.

No, the biggest gripe(s) is that it's heavier and slower than the 350 it replaces...An auto tranny ain't exactly an improvement either...

First I think the new wolverine would be great for its intended use. Its designed to be a fun trail machine. It isn't going to do well on the steep rocky stuff where low range is better. But for 90% of the trails it will do just fine. In a club I ride with there are several that ride the wolverine. and we help them go where the utility quads go. The auto tranny is good and has a lot of room for modifications plus you don't have to shift all the time. I agree with wolvydude that it would have been nice if they had kept the weight down under 500lbs for it since the older models weighed only 477 with a rear rack. I do like the liquid cooled motor better than the air cooled one (but its all personal preference).

Wolvydude,
How does your wolverine handle the 24" tires? I was thinking of dropping to a 10" rim and 22" tires and running the Maxxis Razr2 all the way around for a more sportier ride. I know the fronts wouldn't do as well in the mud but most of my riding is on trails with just an occasional mud puddle. How do you like the 424?

I don't even notice them in terms of size. They have a minimal effect on my gearing (which is what I wanted) and the Claws are light years ahead of the stockers in terms of performance. I'm very satisfied with them. The 424 is a must have IMO. Gives the Wolverine a much sportier feel when you don't need 4wd. By far my favorite mod so far. Only paid $215 shipped off of e-bay (best place to get one).
