Raptor 700 pipe shoot out !!!!!!!!!
#61
LOL....I agree Gary is just bitter about owning a piece e-series...I had one of those and it sucked!
I actually purchased my pipe from power pros directly (they make the pipe for CT racing) and I got the pipe/header with cermic coating and a custom billet open tip along with 13 discs tip for $400 cash.
I love this pipe.....

I don't need an exhaust...lol. You are not going to get it are you? Almost every post of mine states the same thing......the the shootout was not legit and I bet the new shootout if the same BS. Do a legit shootout and we can then see what pipes produce the most power / most useable power....period.

(It will include jets, needles and air box instructions) If you call CT with your mods, they will tell you how to jet your carb and disk your new pipe. (And it will be correct info) It will change your opinion about the shoot out and CT.Man, I was wondering what the deal was, usually you have very insightful replies.

Some of this cracks me up. I dont know if those numbers are accurate or not. IMO, there dyno is like trinity's dyno. There 500cc kit that they where advertising for the yfz was supposively making 70 horse. GIVE ME A BREAK.
I dont think there dyno is off number wise as much as trinity's, but I would have to guess its off alittle. Use dyno's like that, not for the numbers, but for the curve difference. Looks to me like a good difference over stock, but you still need other dyno curves from different exhausts, done on the same dyno, to really compare, which hopefully this "upcoming dirt wheels test" shows.
ALSO, I tend to lean toward the advise and use of factory and private two-wheeled race teams. There is a lot more focus on dirt bikes then quads. Everything on the MX track has become within a nats a$$ of eachother as far as performance. I DONT SEE MANY FACTORY RACE TEAMS RUNNING DISC TYPE SILENCERS ON THERE BIKES. ALSO, from what I have seen, those disc type silencers dont really help you out as far as weight goes on a already close to 400LB dry weight machine. I would be out to gain power and save a vast amount of weight!!!!!

Is it really possible to have a "fair" shoot out?
Here are the Facts, Jack: (if any are untrue, please flag)
1. Pipes require modifications to Air/Fuel to work properly.
2. All pipes require Air/Fuel modifications that are different from others.
This being said, the shoot out compared apples to oranges to grapes to manogos and etc.
CT was not the only orange. Their mods were just more extreme than the others.
More Facts:
3. If you made no modifications to air/fuel, then the pipes would not work properly. This would leave the results inconclusive. Bikes would be loosing power in the top end at different points due to lean conditions. You may even get lower HP peaks than stock if you dont mod the Air/Fuel.
4. The manufactures in the shoot out were free to recommend the air/fuel mods.
5. Tuning is key to HP gains.
6. CT kicked butt in the shoot out.

2-The manufacturer had the right to suggest recommended jetting.....this levels the playing field for an accurate comparism on equally modded machines (piped with the lid on in this case). Thats apples to apples right there. Take the lid off and up the jetting and the CT pipe has an unfair advantage. No-matter how you look at it this is obvious. I don't care if the other manufacturers did not want their pipe tested with the lid off or not....thats irrelevant.
3-True...I explained this to you earlier.
4-True...but remove the lid and CT could recommend larger jetting.
5-True....tuning the proper air and fuel ratio can make a big difference in power everywhere.
6-True...they won the shootout and they should have since no-one else ran with no lid.
In keeping with your line of thinking, if Sparks would have offered a turbo to be installed with their pipe and it won the shootout would you be cool with that?

I get your point on the turbo.
OK. I will give this one to you. CT could have left the lid on and rejetted and it would have been more fair. Fine, are you happy now Mr. C?
But, you still need to scrap that E-series even if you have a funky tip. ($150 on Ebay) You need the bad *** CT head pipe. And you need the expansion pipe going into the silencer to suck the burnt gasses out of your pipe like a French ***** on a sailor. Turn your chick bike into a man's quad. You'll appreciate the kick in the ***. I do.
If you can get the ceramic one like ProRaptor's for $400 you will be in quad patrol heaven!
I wish I would have known about power pros. You are in luck 'cause you know now!

Power pros is a company that makes exhausts for many large companies...LRD, CT, and they used to make them for trinity (trinity chose to have them made cheaper over seas somewhere not too long ago). I know there are others they make exhausts for but cant think of them right now.
The people at power pros are very knowledgable. When I went down there I asked for the pipe that they make that by far gave the most power with no lid and a pro design filter kit. They handed me the CT without even thinking about it. Very nice guys over there and they have been in the motorcycle/atv exhaust fab business for many years...
Another cool thing about them is they do custom jobs also...Im thinking about getting them to make me some duals.
