if hes going to be that critical of everything, sooner or later there will be no bikes "fit "for him to own
yea he had a major issue on a new bike,,,,,as i said before in this thread,if Yamaha had thumbed there nose at him,or made him dance the Funky Chicken around the showroom floor while patting his head ,and rubbing his belly at the same time before consenting to fix it,,,THEN he would have a good reason to say screw Yamaha's
im just glad "HE" bought the only bike that i have seen have this issue before i had a chance to buy it,,,,thanx OP,your a real sport for looking out for me,your aces, the man,my hero, the big kahoona, the man with the plan

I guess some of you guys just dont get the point, this isnt the kind of thing someone should have to deal with. Sure there are always going to be engine failures, but when you ride a bike or a brand your whole life and never have an engine die on you and then all of the sudden you switch to another bike and another brand and the dang things implodes in the first two weeks it doesnt inspire a lot of confidence in the brand or the bike. What if this had happened after 6 months? What if it happens again out of warranty after it's fixed? If I were the owner of that bike I would be scared to death to ride it for fear it would blow again and send me into a tree, or worse yet cause a wreck with a loved one riding it.
If it were me with that bike I'd be more upset, I thought he was quite calm about it and he didnt badmouth Yamaha in anyway. He simply said he probably wouldnt own another one again, not that all of them were junk or that Honda was better. He had an open mind and spent thousands of dollars on a new machine as a sign of faith in Yamaha and it literally blew up in his face. I'll be most of you, despite your remarks, would have similar feelings if not direct anger if in the same situation.

Its sad that it happened.......what would be even worse is if Yamaha had not stood by it. (alot of brands dont or try real hard not to)
But that didnt happen....its being taken care of.
I guess we will all have to wait until he gets some real seat time on it and then see what he thinks about his new brand

Yes, the same thing would apply to all brands. If I had ridden yamaha all my life and always found them very reliable and then I laid down 7k for a new honda and it blew up before the end of the break in period you can bet I'd have to think real hard about ever buying another honda.
Yamaha isnt exactly the lone ranger when it comes to rescuing customers from their machine's problems though, 03 grizz and 01 raptor cases in point. Not that they're the worst by any means either though.

Plus you have to figure alot of the quads with CV joint issues have oversize tires and offset wheels....alot are brought in covered in mud...... and alot of guys come in mad at the dealer to start with.
You can snap any front CV joint with the bars turned all the way one direction, diff lock engaged, and hard on the throttle.
I'm not saying every rider is to blame........but I know alot are.
heck I have even broke a front CV and knew it was my fault........so I didnt even ask the dealer to try and get Yamaha to replace it.

Count your blessings....you did'nt buy a King Quad. Go to the Suzuki section and take your choice of the issues that many owners have had. It will make you very happy to be a griz owner. And when you sell the griz don't forget to ask a high price...their resale value is tremendous.......check EBay to verify that......

The other has a little over 1,000 trouble free miles on it. And they are both the early models with the faulty reverse gear bushing. So far so good for both.......if I was going to buy a new quad today it would be the King Quad.

I wish the Griz had fuel injection...other than that I've had no problems and I plow the heck out of snow with it. I guess the latest thing with the KQ is that they're smoking. I can't remember at what milage guys are starting to have that problem. You're fortunate to have not had failures with the reverse gear...the original design was terrible. However, their update and repair for it is certainly more than adaquate to elimate the problem. I just can't help but to wonder what their next issue is going to be. When I went to buy a KQ the dealer said he could'nt sell me one because they were all on recall due to some cable issue....wow am I glad now! I went down to another dealer and got a great price on the Griz and hav'nt regretted it a bit.
