raptor 700 vs yfz450
#41
He's saying that stock the 660 is more plugged up (more restricted, holding back more power) than the 700 and I have to agree. My 660 was down right embarrassing when it was stock..........

...by the way, sorry for writing a novel on your thread. You have to understand, I couldnt answer your question without stating where I am coming from, as some people dont want to hear numbers, specs, and plain math. I felt that they needed to hear where I was coming from, otherwise your thread really would ahve been hijacked, as it would have turned into nothing but, attacking, name calling, and hurt feelers
All of my opinions have been made from riding pretty much every single yamaha sport quad they have produced, minus the blaster. I few years back I had a modded 660, then went to the yfz. IN NO WAY, SHAPE, OR form did the 660 come close to beating my yfz. Now we have a 700, which is stock for now......but I am assuming modded its not going to be THAT different. I expect a few more ponies maybe, but nothing mind boggling. So I am left with modded 660 knowledge, what I have read, and what numbers and math show. I believe I am in NO way bias either way. I, like every one else has the right to pick a favorite, and have an opinion at the end of the day, and its my opinion the yfz is a more performance minded quad, which appeal to more aggressive riders.
Maybe things are vastly different in the dunes or something, I dont know, as I only ride in the dirt anymore!
Talk to you later, and once again, sorry for the novel!

Well, that would make more sence than a 700 with the normal mods beating a yfz. Your 686 was anything but just bolt ons. I am betting that your old 686 would put the 700 to shame as well.
I have raced old 686's and it was a lot closer race than a 700. Though, I usually won in the dirt. Now a 727 is a whole new ball game, and I am betting on it against eveything. I would love to see the old school 660 go head to head with the new 700 with the 734 kit, and see how close it is and who wins!

I had to add .25 of a quart every two tanks of gas. The quad only holds .8 to 1 quart of oil in it anyway. Even worse the the CRF 450 owners manual says to rebuild the top end every 20 hours. I will never buy a honda again until they redesign there engines.

LOOK, IF THE ABOVE ISNT ATTACKING ME THEN I DONT KNOW WHAT IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wasnt coming after you on your opinion, thats exactly what I wanted. What I didnt want is to get into a big pissing match, which you did start to do!
I was just trying to explain myself, as so many people REALLY disagree with me. Still, knowbody has countered me on my rational and thinking. Its just up to experience. Thats fine. I was more out to show, that the 700 doesnt have the upper hand onb the yfz. Thats fine if they are close enough that the 700 can sometimes win, but math and specs give the yfz the upper hand.
I would have to disagree with OZARK, as you are cranking out approx 48-50 horse with approx 400lbs. I on the other hand have about 5 more ponies then you do and about 75 less pounds! I'd say bring that $hiiitt on. A betting man would be a fool to go with you!
I just wanted to show where I was coming from. I realize people with 700's are going to say that the 700 is better. The yfz guys are going to say its better. I have both, unfortunately the 700 is still stock...for now....as the girl rides it. As far as numbers go, specs and mags are telling me the yfz is more of a performance oriented machine, and anyone that denies that is a fool. You only fooling yourself anyway, and making fellow 700 owners feel better. The 700 is what it is, and its the best at it...TRAILS.
I love our 700, and am very happy with it....except for the FI needing serious massaging if you do one single thing to the bike.
I like my yfz better though as its more of an aggressive quad. Thats just me though, and my single opinion.
Talk to you guys later, and thanks for those who didnt attack!
