I am the proud owner of a new 2001 Banshee. I am looking at different aftermarket exhaust systems and was wondering if ya'll could give me some info. on how well different systems clear the front fenders. This question come up because yesterday I was looking at a Banshee with Pro Circuit pipes and the front right fender was cut around the exhaust. So I need to know if this is necessary for all pipes. I am looking at Pro Circuit, FMF, and Toomy's. Any info. is appreciated.

I installed a set of FMF Gnarly pipes on my Banshee without any mods to the stock plastic and have had no problems with melting. I purchased a power kit with the reeds, reed spacers, boost bottle, and pipes, then rejetted the carbs and the performance increase is just awesome.

Two of my buddies have a set of FMF pipes and had to do some minor trimming on the front fenders to clear the pipes. Waiting for a set for my '00 banshee, just about chocked when I saw the price. I could put an exhaust system on my truck and then some for that price.

I have a pair of FMF Fatty's on my 99 Banshee and I have had no problem with them melting my plastic...It's a tight fit...but tight is good.

I installed the Pro Circuit platnium pipes on my Banshee and didn't have to trim any of the plastic. Clearance is decent and no melting has occurred yet.

ok, the reason why the fact that some pipes do rub and some dont is all yamaha's fault. not all of the motor mounts on the frame are EXACTLY the same, the motor is also mounting on rubber...that means that each motor will not sit exactly like another motor. so its not that the pipes are shaped differently or anything like that, i have two banshees and when i had inframe pipes on both, beither of them hit the fenders

Do the gnarly pipes give your banshee any better bottom end? Have you ridden banshees with other types of pipe to compare? I have a set of fatty woods pipes and the gnarly's weren't available when I bought the fatty's. How do the gnarly pipes stack up??? By the way my fattys did not melt the fenders.

I have aftermarket pipes (that I can't define the name). The fender had to be redrilled a bit more inside (where it is attached by the tube like bracket)so it is higher. That way, there's enough clearance, and no melting...but I don't think the pipes would get hot enough to melt it...rubbing, yes, melting...I don't think. A 4 stroke would, not a 2 stroke.

I haven't ridden a banshee with another kind of pipe so I don't have an answer for you. besides the other mods listed above I also down sized my front sproket 1 tooth. I did everything all at once so I am not sure what made the biggest difference, but there sure is alot more bottom end. I start off in 2nd gear when drag racing in the sand and this thing really hooks up.
