k but where does the sound in the air box come from? thats whats not making any sence to me...should i go take my air box off and start it? would i feel stupid if i did and admit u were right?

Yeah, if you pulled your airbox lid and started the engine you'd hear it. Just make sure you have the filter positioned right when you put the lid back on. I would respect that a lot, if you could admit you're wrong when you know it, most guys would deny it at all costs. To a lot of guys admitting that they're wrong sometimes is like smashing their ego with a hammer.
I assume the sound comes from the air getting pulled into the cylinder rapidly, because when the intake valve opens there's only a very short time peroid for the cylinder to fill with air, so you hear the air suck in.

ok, i did it...u were pritty much right. u learn something new everyday...and i learned that quads are louder with out the lid...however, it wasnt louder then the exhuast it self...but non the less much louder, and u were pritty much right
