Bought a new car once and 1st oil change was at 1000 miles, I would imagine quads would be maybe 1/4 of that. Changed my oil in the new quad at 200 miles.
Caution!! My car dealer told me to break in my car however I would be driving it....needless to say it needed a new engine at 50,000mile..it was covered under warrenty cause I kept records.... Yes the carpet under the gas pedal was a little worn out. LOL!!!

IV'E BROKEN IN A FEW BIKES AND SEVERAL CAR AND TRUCK ENGINES. FIRST YOU WANT TO GO SHORT RUNS AT DIFFERENT RPM,S GET UP TO FULL OPORATING TEMPERATURE EACH RUN. THEN LET IT COOL, WATCH YOUR FLUIDS. ONCE YOU'VE REACHED FULL THROTTLE AND THE ENGINE SOUNDS CRISP, NO MISSING, OR SPUTTERING RUN IT LIKE YOU WANT IT TO RUN AND THATS THE WAY IT WILL ALWAYS RUN. I BEAT THE SNOT OUT OF MINE ITS GOT 16 HOURS RIGHT NOW. IT JUST KEEPS RUNNING BETTER AND BETTER. I DID REPLACE THE PLUG AFTER 10 HOURS, JUST TO KEEP A GOOD CLEAN SPARK.
