4mm banshee stock porting

I ordered a stock crank and piston kit for my 2001 banshee. the guy accidentally mailed me a 4mm stroker/5mm long rod with the 795 piston kit and said i could keep it. Well i assembled it with stock porting and a spacer plate. I am FULLY aware that the stroker with stock porting is not optimal--but will not being ported with a 4mm stroker kill my reliability? I am told that it should be fine but i wanted to ask here to make sure

Just went through that whole deal and the best results I've found was to loose the spacer plate and have the head machined for the piston clearance. The head work should be less than $100. Dramatic improvement, even with stock porting. I sank another $200 in a mild port job to get time timing close I was getting 63 hp out the dyno. Hell of a good time!
I highly recommend carbs. You can get the 26mm's to burn right but you have to be in the pipe at all times. To much low RPM trail riding will kill the bottom end bearings. Blaster 28mm's are good but some air strikers are the way to go. Then you will have a realiable set up. You will blow through a tank in no time.
After $10K+ later and not to mention the a loyal banshee owner for many years, I'm going 4-stroke.
