Default chipped gear/gasket

ok a while back i chipped a tooth off of 2nd gear. im buying a new gear ($25) and gaskets ($80) a guy i work with said that they make a silocone gasket. its heat resistant and it comes in tubes for like $3. he said u use it just like gasket glue, is there any truth to this and if so does it work just as good? thanks -fanninator

Use the glue in addition to the gasket, not in place of. Its just something to help the gasket seal a little better.
Yamaha makes stuff called yamabond er something. I just used it on my R6 when i put a new gasket on it. Just put some of the stuff around the crank case, put the gasket on the put more on the stator and screw em together.
