Hey guys i got a 03 660 and the starter is giving me probs. all it does is freewheel and it backfired before it died last time it was runnin and i dont know if it is the one way or bolts in the one way but i would like to see if any of you guys know so i can have an idea of what to do before i tear it down but any input is appreciated greatly and also which quad should i go for a 450r or a yfz 450 cause im do for a new quad anyways lol but let me know thanks

 

if it freewheels and your motor/tranny havent locked up then its probably the one-way. Broken bolts would make noise or maybe even lock up the tranny and a buster one way will just cause the started to freewheel. Only way to really know is to take off the cover. I wouldnt use the quad until its fixed...debris might be floating around and can cause more damage. Your looking at $200+ on parts to fix it (bearing, gear and gaskets). Good luck!

 

Yea it was making a rattling noise in the side case would that be the broken bolts???

 

More than likely when it backfired you sheered the bolts off; that bolt the oneway to the flywheel.........
