Grizz 660 probelm
Mine did the samething after sitting when hot, I am thinhing it was a vapor lock, I just read something like this on another forum, don't push the cap vent hose all the down in the handle bar it might be getting pinched so it wont vent.
And I also took my side covers off and cut the louvers out, that will let a lot of heat out, to me the louvers are facing the wrong way they can't scoop no air facing the fenders, they need to be facing rearward to let the heat out.
This has been a problem since 02, you think by know they could get it right.

mikesg I would do the valve clearance ,it is a pain but i do mine myself it will take a couple of hours , and while your at it, remove the carb clean it and check the float setting , @ full throttle you could be running the bowl low on fuel. 4xflo I would check the float on yours also. good luck . let us know whta you guys found out.

You do your valve clearance yourself? I thought you had to have special tools to do this. I imagine you have to take the head off and replace necessary gaskets.
I did take the housing off the belt and cleaned it... which it was already clean, and I greased what I could see without getting any on the belt, and it did gain 1 mph top end, but still at 54 mph, whereas before the sputtering started I was getting 63 constant. Also, the bike starts off normally more times than not, but it still does it every now and then... every now and then it feels like you're starting off in second gear.. dies down a bit.. then gets back up to speed.
How big of a pain in the *** is it to do this valve clearance check yourself, and where might I find any literature or instructions on doing this.. if any. I'd much rather do it myself than spend no telling what to have these rip-offs at the dealership to do it.
About 3 weeks to a month ago I had the bushing in the front axle replaced by the dealership and it cost about 300 bucks to have the job done, and the darn thing is leaking again around the same bushing (where the drive shaft goes from the engine into the front axle). I watched them replace the parts with new ones, so I know it was not a patch job.
As far as the Float setting goes, can this automatically become a problem and just start causing these symptoms?
Is there a fuel filter anywhere? Anyway thanks for any info on a do-it-yourself valve clearance check.
