06 Kodiak 450 stalling
I have searched and found similar problems but mine seems to be unique.
First occurance; probably 20 minutes in I went through a shallow water hole, maybe 3" deep, and when I came up the hill and stopped to wait for others my quad stalled. It idled down and quit running like I hit the kill switch. Put it in nuetral and nothing, put it in park and it started but wouldn't idle. 3 starts later I could put it in gear and ride, but with minimal power for 100 feet.
Second occurance; an hour later went through deeper hole; probably 12" enough to get steam, out of the hole up the hill and stop to wait it stalled when idled down. Same process as after the first occurance. We went out to our vehicles and couldn't find anything obvious. It seemed to be running fine by the time we got out, even after going through more water.
Third occurance, this is where it is different than the others. Went back to the drag strip so the guys on the sport quads could race, no problems on the way. Pulled in the shade to watch, 30 minutes later it would only start if I gave it heavy throttle and would die once it reached idle speed. Finally got it to idle so it would go in gear and headed back to the truck. On the way back it sputterd a few times when slowing down and had a slow response.
It loaded fine after sitting 30 minutes or so, and no problems at home either.
It was about 90 degrees and really dusty.
I have about 150 hours on the quad and this is my first issue. I've been in some pretty deep stuff and never a problem.
The closest thing I've found is the "boiling gas" issue, but the third occurance differs form the other complaints.
carb issue maybe?
Maybe it was the conditions?
Any thoughts?
