Default Bear Tracker year model

I bought a used Yamaha Bear Tracker and was told it was a 1999 model. Could someone tell me how to confirm this? Can the year be found somewhere on it?

Thanks!

I based my 2003 Bear Tracker on the previous registration (serial #) and the manual that was with it. But regardless of which I didn't really care because I got it for $1500 and it was mint, driven by a guy's 14yr old daughter.

If no one rings in on this I will check into it for you.

Look at the 10th digit of your VIN. If it is a "X", it is a 1999. If it is a "Y" it is a 2000. 2001 and up would be the last number of the year, i.e. "1" for 2001, "2" for 2002, etc.

If it is older than a '99, count backwards on the alphabet from X, i.e. "W" for '98, "V" for '97, etc.

Same with cars. 10th digit is the year, 8th digit is the engine code.
