Don't know much about the raptor, but down the road, if your thinking about a bbk for the motor, you can easily double the HP on the kfx, for under a grand.
a 50 rear wheel kit is $499 right now at one of the builders...50 at the wheels would be $75+ at the motor on a cvt.

people are getting like 52-54 at the wheel with less than a grand in there raptors. duals, intake, power commander 3 with a good map.

Kawasaki and Yamaha both make good atvs.My KFX hasn't give me any trouble.I got mine because it is an automatic. If I were going to be racing alot I would have picked the raptor over the KFX.The raptor will be quicker and probably handle better. When trail riding I prefer an automatic so I got the KFX .I also have used my KFX in the deer woods and I really want an automatic there.I dont think one is better than the other It all depends on what kind of riding you will be doing.

They are totally different animals........
The Raptor is a real sport machine, manual clutch, chain drive, light and nimble handling....they are very fast, faster than the KFX stock-for-stock..... EFI makes mods a snap.
The KFX is CVT/auto, shaft drive, big and heavy with mediocre handling.....they are pretty fast, and have massive torque with loads of hop-up potential.... but with two carbs and an auto tranny, you need to spend some coin to modify them.....
But each has it's place..... my father loves his KFX700 and would not trade it for anything.... I hate it, because it feels too big and heavy for my taste, and I like a manual clutch and lighter handling ......
The two don't really compare well one-on-one as they appeal to totally different types of riders...
