thats just it Cat. the plug was firing and it acted like it wanted to start up. it was getting fuel ect and had really good spark. the thing was it was firing at the wrong time. and after checking the timing marks they were good to go. and after tearing it apart all the parts where still moving ect. but the woodruff key keeps the stator lined up with the crank and is pretty much the weakest link in the event you get a case of the dumb *** like me and put it in the drink and the motor decides to fill up with water it will snap there before anything else messes up. *shrugs* over all just a pain in the ***. so did you put ur EPI in yourself. mine is shifting kinda hard i'm asuming it's cause it sat for a year and if i'm going to pull it apart to lube it i might as well put a new clutch in

Have you check your primary clutch? You may need to take it apart and repack the rollers..

yeah i haven't really checked anything yet. i work all week out of state so my weekend time is pretty much taken up before i even get it. i'm pretty sure it just needs to be repacked because it still works it's kinda hard to shift and occasoinally it doesn't want to go into reverse. you put it in reverse and you can tell the shift forks aren't engageing. and it makes sence because it sat for a year ummm DRYING out you could say. but i figure if im going to tear things apart i might as well have an umm excuse to tell the old lady to get better stuff. "hunny it's broke and i need a new aftermarket clutch"

There was another post about a month ago, about a drowned suzuki , and we all gave a ton of carb advice. I would not have thought to look for a sheared key.....I hope he reads your post. I guess if you followed a trouble shooting guide straight through, it would get you to the key, but I know I like to jump ahead and guess on problems.

Good luck to you

well i never used the trouble shooting guide. i'm a man and that thing is like a map it's just in my DNA to do. so i sat there and pulled out my hair and guessed. it's running good now i think with it being hard to shift it just needed some working. i've been riding it a little bit here and there around my neighbor hood on the weekend to get the kinks out but it seems to be getting better. probably still do the clutch kit just because.
