I have the 2009 Grizzly 700 and have been reviewing all kinds of feedback on clutch kits and want to do the eight Grizzly 660 weights. From everyone I've seen feedback from, that's the best clutch mod for this model that I've seen consistently.

According to oemcycle, the 660 weight is unchanged (went back 2008 to 2006 models), so I take it I can just order that weight's part number, times 8.

One question I could use help with, though...do I need any other parts? Like new spacers or sliders? Or do I just need the 8 new weights and fresh grease?

Lastly, any special tools needed just to change weights?

You dont need any special tools to change just the weights. Just a set of metric sockets.

You can change all the parts individually in the clutches, but to get the overall best performance you should change all the parts.

Yes you can improve some areas on some models by changing one thing, but to make the clutches work more effeciently you should tune all areas.

 

Check out a "grunt kit". The're some place in Maine. Put in a 1mm spacer and 8 alum rollers in the drive sheave yourself and go ride. Total cost is under 50 bucks. Oh, and don't forget to add 2" spacers all round for a wider stance. You'll love it in the corners.

Maybe someone on this thread can help me out. I've got a '06 Griz 660 with 27" mud tires bored exhaust etc. now I'm sure the clutch kit is EPI because that's all everyone seems to use, but I bought the quad second hand, it needs new weights not sure what size I need though, and the tech support from EPI is about as helpful as herpes.
