starting issues

So I'm new to the forum and dont really know too much about quads. I have a 94 kodiak 400 4x4. 1320 miles on it and it wont start. If i get pulled by another quad to "coast start it" it will start everytime. i've only done this a few time becuz its hard on the timing components. i checked the fuel and spark issue. It is getting fuel but the spark is very weak. Compression is good. The plug is new. Would it be the coil? thanks alot for any advice. if you need any more detaiils i will post them as soon as i can

You are probably experiencing problems with the stator's pulse coil or source coil - not with the ignition coil. On Yamaha's, one of the symptoms of these 2 "parts" going bad, is starting by "rolling", and not by the electric or recoil start. Both are replaceable by themselves without replacing the whole stator assembly............

does anyone happen to know what the voltage for both of these should be? the pulse/ trigger coil is 30 bucks and the source coil 75 and change. Should i just buy new ones and forget testing the old ones?
