i have an 87 moto4 200. i am not getting gas to the motor. if you put gas on the spark plug it starts fine then shuts off.
any help??

 

please help

 

check your float. sounds like its stuck shut or there is carmalized gas in there clogging up the carb. try giving the carb a thorough cleaning

 

have you pulled the fuel line off the carb to see if the fuel is flowing out of the tank? that is the most simple way to check and rule out a blockage in the tank and shutoff valve. if it flows to the carb fine, then i agree with the above post with the float not operating correctly.

 

gas is flowing from the tank and the floats are not stuck. carmalized gas?

 

in other words, how old is the fuel in that tank?

somthing in the carb is stuck or clogged.give it a good cleaning and see what happens.

 

Clean the carb its easy follow these steps http://www.ripperd.com/ftp/admins/carb_rebuild/ If pilot jet is such just use the wire without removing it.

that link just took me to compare new atv's. i drained the gas out of the tank and carb. put new gas in and it started up first pull. ran for about 5 minutes and died. seemed like it was not getting gas. clogged jets?
