its your timeing.ok this is what you do.remove valve adjustment caps put a rachet on mag nut remove timeing eye cap turn engine with rachet until u see the T mark (this is your timeing mark) F is your fire mark) once your on that mark leave it now check both of your valve rockers they should move slightly up and down.if not then your not on your compression stroke persead to the following step turn the rachet another full turn to T mark recheck rockers they should now have free play in both you should now be on your compression stroke.now you check your cam marks to be sure they are inline.your problem sounds like your timeing is 180 out

i did have the caps off and i rotated the motor to the T mark and checked the valve clearance it came in at .002 int and .006 exh and the marks was lined up but i will recheck to make shure it was at TDC also when i put a timing light on it what make should i c under the light when the plug fires T or F

okay ,,,,, PROGRESS,,,,,,, i hooked up the timing light and the manuel says to look in the case window and verify the T mark is within spec its not it isnt even in the window so i removed the cam cover and pointed the light at the cam gear cause if the motor is timed right and the T was in the window the cam timing mark should allign with the mark at 12 o clock well it doesnt it lines up at 1:30 now going back to a earlier statment burps out the carb every once in a while the plug is firing with the valves open when the piston is on the way down and the overlap of the cam has the exh slightly open and the intake so those of you that stated my timing was off it apears as if you are correct according to the timing light so i need to pull the mag wheel off and check the key i just checked the key at the cam gear it is okay

i am having the same issue, when my t is visible through the sight hole my piston is at the bottom, when the piston is at the top my t is at the bottom of the mag. can anyone point me to a timing chart??? also do i need to remove the mag at this point??? woodruf is gone??? does the mag and the gear come out together or do i need to remove the allen bolts???
#35
my manuel tells me to verify the keys are good and or replace the keys remove the chain tensioner and allign the T in the window the remesh the cam gear on the chain to allign it to the case mark but i have tore my mag off yet to check my key but i did check the one on the cam its good and my adjuster is tight and working the only other thing it can be is a key on the mag ill work on it this week the i get the joy of hopfully getting it running and putting it all back together

well i recieved the puller i installed it and it wont come of am i missing something are the allen bolts in the flywheel need to be removed or is it just stuck i had a 1/2 inch drive ratchet with a 18 inch extension on the hande and it wont move at all help help help

no the allen bolts hold the mageneto and flywheel together, that will just create a headache, you turn the bolt all the way out on the puller then you screw it onto the magneto wind the bolt all the way in until it hits the crank then it should pop off when you start to wind it in tight, you might have to use an impact or just at least a breaker bar, i usually can get them off with a big ratchet with an extension and i usually have to try and torque it down pretty hard before it pops.

k i popped it flippin thing is on there good but the key is in great shape so how do i time it up if im thinkinking corectly i would need to set the mag "t" on the money
and back the cam up 5 teeth what is causing or caused it to be off im not understanding right now when i roll the mag wheel clockwise the intake valve begins openopening at the precise time the plugh is firing at the 1;30 pos
