Default Timberwolf question...... Anyone know what is going on?

92 Yamaha Timberwolf 2x4. I have been eating starters. I put a new solenoid and starter on my atv, along with a new starter button. Question is, After I push the start button, the motor starts right up, but when I let off the button, the starter keeps on running and burns them up. I dont know what to do. There is a little black plastic box next to the solenoid and rectifier. I read in the manual that is a starter cut off relay. Can anyone confirm that for me? I would appreciate anything I am ready to ride this thing!

you would have to test the circut with a volt meter, but im pretty sure that is the cut off relay. it could also be the brushes and mechanism in the starter that are not disengedgeing when the motor starts running. easy way to rule that out is to start with the pull rope. if it dose not engedge the starter then it is most likely the relay switch that has gone bad.

good luck!
