Default need help finding out what year my warrior is?

I got a older warrior for next to nothing, but no one knew what model year it was. I know the earlier bikes had the lights lower on the fenders, but is there a way to tell the exact year?

Also, I know engine components and electrical components will be different through the years, but can I take brakes off a newer bike and bolt them on my older one? What is interchangeable?

I got this from another site for the blaster but i believe all Yamaha's use the same VIN naming scheme... I also checked it against my 98' warrior and it is correct.

The year is the tenth letter/number of the VIN.

1988 = J
89 = K
90 = L
91 = M
92 = N
93 = P
94 = R
95 = S
96 = T
97 = V
98 = W
99 = X
2000 = Y
2001 = 1
2002 = 2
2003 = 3
2004 = 4
2005 = 5
2006 = 6

Yea the only way to tell for sure is using the VIN, but most everything on warrior's is interchangeable, including brakes. The only thing that is not is some of the electronics.

It should be stamped into the frame down by the footpeg. I can't remember which side it is on but it should be around there.

The 10th letter is H, so I am guessing its an 87.

Thanks for the help!

I dont want to start a new thread, but I might have to for this. I got this bike for free pretty much, and the guy who owned it last really butcherd the wiring. I found two problems, the guy cut wires left and right, but he cut the old ignition out and put one thats not for a atv in. There are 4 wires going into it, Im guessing they are for the lights and the ignition, but what color wires are for what? The second problem is that there should be 3 relays on the back of the bike, there are 2, one is cut. There is one on the left side of the frame , and one twards the center of the rear of the frame. There should be another on the side of the frame, but what is it for?

Sorry if that is hard to understand lol.
