I just bought a 01 Raptor about three months ago, and I think its great. The other guys are right though in stock form they dont handle very well. They are very tippy/top heavy But after some +2 a arms, works shocks up front, and a +4 rear axel I have absolutley no problem with handling. But that stuff costs alot of $$$$. Unless you find one that has done all that already. Im pretty sure it would be cheaper than what you would pay for the 700.

I agree with all the guys i own a 01 660 with an 02 motor in cuz of the tranny problems my 01 left me stranded hundreds of miles from home at Sand Mt in Utah when my tranny broke and locked everything up. We had to take off the chain just to pull it back to camp. I didn't even open it up i gambled on an 02 motor off of Ebay and it worked out fine. I also now own two 06 700's there is a ton of difference's in the bikes such as the handling, power, fuel injection, suspension, more balanced not having 2 carbs. The 660 is still a good bike as long as it is 02 or newer but if u can afford it get a 700. The only thing i don't like about my 700's so far is that the aluminum sub frame seems to break easy i have broke one already. Pit Viper makes a steel laser cut replacement and extra braces that i believe u can use on the stock sub frame before it breaks. Good luck

Hey Birdman do u still have the stock 01 tranny or has the 02 update been installed. If it is still stock u might want to check out raptortranny.com if u do this before it breaks u can just change the weak parts that will break eventually. It shortens the distance between 1st and 2nd gear which is the weak spot. If u wait till it breaks then u should change everything cuz u don't know if u have cracked any of the other gears when it breaks.
