I sse you have can ams so I know you are familar with the DESS system. I think it is great too. The keys on the 500cc and up outlanders and renegades are the same but the chip in the key stores an individual code. The dealer puts the key in the ignition, turns it on, and hooks it to their BUDS software. The ECM then stores that key code, if a key is inserted that does not have that stored code it will not start and the ECM will store multiple codes. You can take that same key and have them program that to another outlander/renegade.
