'01 bear tracker carb issues
#1
This machine set up for 6 months. Could not get it cranked. Drained gas, took carb off and cleaned jets and needle attached to the float. Now it will crank, but it backfires and spits and sputters for about 10 minutes or until the motor gets warm then it runs great. It does this with or without the choke on. Also my choke stick feels different when i pull it out and push it in but never messed with it when i cleaned the jets. Could carb cleaner messed anything up? I've also gave it 1/2 throttle and pulled the choke out to clear out any debris. Anybody familiar with these carbs?
Thanks,

Well now it backfires and spits/sputters all the time. It runs a little better when it warm but still runs rough. I put a new carb boot(carb to head) cause the old one had cracks in it, but it didn't help.

Had the same problem with a 2001 beartracker. Take the cover off the air intake and see how it runs. You will have a blockage in the snorkel tube if there is no blockage trim the snorkel tube about 1&1/2 inch runs great. But I went the same way, new carb motor checked, all electrical checked nothing. Took to shop they checked snorkel tube clear he cut top of snorkel tube off runs great.
