I just purchased a 2000 big bear a few weeks ago and now have run into an issue where the 20a fuse blows as soon as I turn the key on. This has not been a problem before and everything has been working just fine. I was talking to a guy at the local repair shop and he told me it is either a short somewhere in the electrical or that the MPEM went out. He also said the MPEM is expensive and that I should try and find a short first.

I have a mechanical background rather than electrical so do not quite know where to start here in isolating between the two. Any help here would be appreciated.

A friends 2000 BB had the same prob. It was some bad wiring that was easily fixed. I'll ask him which wires it was. Something has obviosly rubbed and is shorting out. I'd start chasing wires.
