My 04 YFZ is going into neutral way too easy when shifting from 1st to 2nd. It kills my speed when I'm trying to climb dunes. Does anyone know what would cause this?

if your clutch feels wright, and if your machince has a lot of hours, i would suspect shift fork wear. make sure your shifter is tight at the shaft.

There is a little extra travel when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I got used to it pretty quickly but, I sometimes miss also. Occasionally if someone is riding with me around this house for a sec it throws me off and I miss every time. I learned to "choke up" on the shifter. That is I place the shifter higher on my foot.
