Default Starter Problems

I have a 1998 yamaha warrior. It will not start with a jump or the electric start button. However if i touch the two terminals on the solenoid with a wire or a screw driver it will start. I tried a new solenoid but that didnt fix it what else could it be?

Either a faulty starter button or faulty lockout switch (which will be either on the gearchange mechanism or a brake lever) or the wires between these and the ignition switch or solenoid. This assumes other things like lights, horn etc, are working with ignition on, if not then a fuse or wires to the ignition switch are faulty, or the ignition switch itself.
