yamaha warrior vs. honda 400ex
#11
I guess if you take a conglomeration of all those replies, you will get your answer. Take out the macho BS and you got it. I have a 99Warrior. I have ridden them both. A 400EX is a "xippier" quad where the Warrior is a "tougher" bike. Now the definitions.... Zippier= it is more of a performance, cutting edge, well handling bike. Tougher= Rugged, strong, great for trails, very durable and reliable. Totally dependant on what type of riding you want to do.... Trails=Warrior... Showing off=Ex. I chose the Warrior because the benefit/cost ratio was better for me. I am 30 years old and like trail riding and it was $1000 cheaper. SO... if you want zippy (Ex) if you want tough (Warrior).

I don't know, my 400ex is pretty tough. I cant seem to break anything on it. On the trails i ride, they are all wooped out, i mean big ones! 2 feet high and 3 or 4 feet between them, and if you want to find out how tough you or the quad is try these in 4th gear. These woops are all over and were the main reason i got a 400ex because it's great over the woops and i can get the front end up easy when i want to. My friend has a Warrior and i like it but i think its a little too heavy, but its nice and cumfy and the reverse is cool.

the are both great I owned a Warrior and always like it better than the Honda sport bikes had a different feel to it. plus reverse is one of the most needed things on an ATV, Why it is not on the 400EX is well STUPID. I would go with this, which dealer is better? because even though they are both reliable machines if you do need something which place is going to help you out and which one will tell you to get out? The Honda is more up to date, the Warrior does need a make over. try both see which one you like.

I have owned both. And i will tell you I loved my warrior and I love my 400ex.
But the warrior is not a bike to get if you like just blitzing through trails and messing around on jumps. I tore up the stock warrior shocks pretty quick because I liked to jump. But of course the 400ex shocks (front) aren't perfect neither, but will handle more aggressive riding a lot better than the warrior.
The warrior also feels like it has enough torque to pull my house. While the 400 probably has more torque, the motor is more of a quick rev powerband.
I also remember that you could feel every pound that warrior weighed while riding it. It is definately a heavy quad.
As far as reliability I would give both quads an equal rating. Maybe the warrior would be ahead on this because it has been tested for so long.
If you aren't a real aggressive rider and not into getting air,,then go for the warrior and save money. But if you want something that is a bit modern, good handling, and zippy power go with the 400ex.
